  |   News Release

WASHINGTON, July 20, 2023 – U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs Jenny Lester Moffitt will lead the U.S. delegation to the United Nations Food Systems Summit +2 Stocktaking Moment in Rome, Italy, July 24-26, accompanied by leaders and technical experts from the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Agency for International Development and USDA.

The high-level event will build on the momentum of the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit, allowing the United States and other countries to review progress, successes and challenges they have faced over the past two years in combatting hunger and malnutrition and building more sustainable, equitable and resilient food systems.

“It’s an honor to lead this distinguished U.S. delegation as we engage with our international counterparts and showcase the efforts and investments the United States has made under the Biden-Harris Administration in transforming food systems, combatting food insecurity, addressing the climate crisis and fostering equity and inclusivity,” Moffitt said.

The stocktaking moment, to be held at the headquarters of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, will also highlight the central role of food systems transformation in advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) ahead of the UN SDG Summit in September.
