Grain traders remain wary of supplying wheat and barley to the Government of Jordan (GoJ), due to a rejection of a shipment of 100,000 MT of Polish wheat by Jordan Food and Drug Administration. The GoJ is trying hard to regain traders’ confidence, nonetheless, despite few traders participating in tenders, it has successfully contracted its wheat and barley needs for MY2015/16.

Venezuela: Livestock and Products Annual

Since 2014, Venezuela’s total meat consumption has declined 57 percent due to prolonged economic downfall. Nevertheless, since 2019, an improved economic environment has led to stabilized beef production and significant growth in the poultry sector. In 2024, total per capita meat consumption is forecast to be 32.4 kilograms, growing 83 percent from its 2018 record low.

Hong Kong: Retail Foods Annual

Hong Kong’s food retail sales remained stable at $12.2 billion in 2023, however retailers face growing challenges as more budget-minded residents travel to mainland China to save on food purchases, leading to a 4.7 percent decline in food retail sales in the first seven months of 2024.
