Canada: Update on Industrial Hemp Production Trade and Regulation

The Canadian hemp sector continues to be driven by the food and nutrition markets, despite the 2018 regulatory changes that legalized recreational cannabis, and opened the potential for new markets for hemp-extracted cannabinoids. The production and distribution of cannabinoids and cannabinoid containing-products (including CBD) remain highly regulated, although Health Canada is considering a possible regulatory framework for cannabis health products (such as CBD-containing products) for humans and animals.

Venezuela: Livestock and Products Annual

Since 2014, Venezuela’s total meat consumption has declined 57 percent due to prolonged economic downfall. Nevertheless, since 2019, an improved economic environment has led to stabilized beef production and significant growth in the poultry sector. In 2024, total per capita meat consumption is forecast to be 32.4 kilograms, growing 83 percent from its 2018 record low.

Vietnam: Oilseeds and Products Update

Post maintains Vietnam’s soybean meal consumption forecast for the marketing year (MY) 2023/24 at 5.85 million tons, aligned with feed consumption. It expects consumption to rise to 6.1 million tons in 2024/25 due to increased demand for animal and aquafeed.
