Ethiopia: Ethiopia's Cotton Production Down - Imports Likely Up

Cotton production in MY17/18 (Aug-Jul) is projected to fall to 176,000 bales (38,000 MT) because of poor weather conditions and pest damage. Consumption is expected to continue to outpace production due to the growing demands of the textile and apparel industry. Meantime, imports are set to hit a record of 85,000 bales (19,000 MT).
