The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) is pleased to announce the U.S. and Brazil Food Ingredients Virtual Market Showcase. This virtual event will take place November 10, 2022 and will link the U.S. food ingredients industry to the Brazilian market and buyers.

The event will provide a unique opportunity for U.S. exporters of food ingredient products by connecting them one-on-one with potential buyers through virtual business-to-business meetings. U.S. companies will also showcase their products to local buyers through a virtual platform. 

In advance of the showcase, FAS’s Agricultural Trade Office in Sao Paulo will organize a webinar to provide an overview of the Brazilian food ingredients industry on August 30, 2022, at 2:00 pm (Eastern Time). This event will help U.S. exporters of food ingredients to learn more about the sector and to understand the dynamics of the food ingredients market in Brazil. Please register for the webinar here.

According to the Brazilian Food Processors' Association (ABIA), the country's food processing sector registered revenues of R$922.6 billion (US$171 billion) in 2021, an increase of 16.9 percent compared to 2020. When it comes to food ingredients, Brazil is highly dependent on international suppliers to meet its demand. Ingredients with high added value continue to present good opportunities for U.S. companies. Brazilian food manufacturers and ingredients importers constantly look for new suppliers and innovative products.

The United States also has opportunities for more technological ingredients to be used in the food industries. For instance:

  • dairy ingredients (whey protein, milk albumin, casein for infant formulas),
  • alternative proteins (pea, soy, rice, and others),
  • fibers (soluble and insoluble),
  • emulsifier & stabilizers,
  • flavors & flavor enhancers,
  • vegetable fats, and
  • frozen fruits.

Those products require more research and technological efforts to be produced in a way to meet industry demands. Since the United States has a diverse and robust food ingredients industry, the country can supply food processing companies in Brazil with these innovative products.
