Information for Hosts

Host institutions include U.S. universities, government research facilities and not-for-profit institutions. Host institutions are responsible for:

  • Designating a contact person to coordinate administrative and program arrangements
  • Developing the fellowship curriculum
  • Matching the Fellow with an appropriate mentor
  • Coordinating travel and transportation between home country and host institution
  • Providing lodging and reimbursement for local transportation
  • Providing meal and living allowances
  • Purchasing mandatory emergency health insurance and educating the Fellow regarding coverage
  • Communicating with FAS regarding logistical and program details
  • Submitting financial and program progress reports to FAS in a timely manner

Mentors are responsible for:

  • Working with Fellow prior to arrival to develop work plan, coordinate site visits, and other arrangements
  • Providing guidance and training in the Fellow's research and studies
  • Planning a follow-up visit to the Fellow's home country within a year
