U.S. Agricultural Exports Close 2024 on a Strong Note

U.S. 2024 calendar year agricultural exports totaled $176.0 billion, marking a 1-percent increase ($1.8 billion) from the previous year and securing the third-largest total recorded. The key drivers of this growth included tree nuts (up $1.0 billion, 11 percent), corn (up $807.0 million, 6 percent), food preparations (up $795.0 million, 14 percent), and pork and pork products (up $458.0 million, 6 percent). Total bulk commodities rose 22 percent in volume, while value was down 5 percent due to falling prices. Notably, Mexico overtook Canada and China to become the top market for U.S. agricultural exports at a record $30.3 billion, a 7-percent increase from 2023. Other key markets that reached records are the European Union, Colombia, India, the United Kingdom, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, and Honduras. In total, 23 markets recorded U.S. agricultural exports exceeding $1.0 billion.
