  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   SA2021-0011

As a result of millions of religious pilgrims, foreign workers, and a developing tourism industry Saudi Arabia has a large and resilient HRI sector. Despite the downturn in 2020, recent changes to social policies along with the re-opening of various establishments in 2021 significantly benefitted quick service restaurants and fine dining establishments. In 2020, total consumer food service revenue was nearly $22 billion. Post expects a rebound for the rest of 2021 and for the HRI sector to resume its long-term growth of approximately three percent per year.
