The U.S. government will host an informal, virtual listening session on Sept. 3 to solicit stakeholder input in advance of the UN Food Systems Summit, which takes place Sept. 23.

In the leadup to the United Nations Food Systems Summit, U.S. government officials took part in the Pre-Summit Ministerial meeting in Rome July 26-28, building coalitions and seeking solutions to end hunger and poverty and build more sustainable, equitable and resilient food systems.

Led by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the United States is joining a global coalition focused on improving the nutrition, health, and education of vulnerable children and adolescents worldwide.

In his remarks to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, Secretary Vilsack emphasized the U.S. commitment to climate-smart agriculture and forestry practices, science-based rulemaking, and collaboration on addressing global food insecurity.

The Agriculture Innovation Mission (AIM) for Climate will increase and accelerate global innovation research and development on agriculture and food systems in support of climate action.
