Ghana: Ghana Oilseeds Voluntary 2022

  |   Attaché Report (GAIN)   |   GH2022-0018

Marketing year (MY) 2022/23 palm kernel production is forecast at 62,000 metric tons (MT), down by about nine percent compared to Post’s MY2021/22 projection. This is mainly because of an annual three-month drought period (December-February) that negatively affects FFB yield, and consequently kernel yield. MY2022/23 soybean production has been forecast at 230,000 MT by Post, up by four percent from the MY2021/22 estimate of 221,000 MT. MY2022/23 total domestic consumption demand for soybean is forecast at 184,000MT, up by six percent from the MY2021/22 estimate (173,000MT) mainly due to expected increased demand from food use domestic consumption, food manufacturing sector, and the aquaculture industries.
