AgLink Program - Morocco

Purpose - The AgLink Program - Morocco will assist U.S. agribusinesses seeking to market their agriculturally related products or services in the Moroccan market.

Background - The AgLink Program - Morocco is designed to overcome Morocco’s traditional dependency on European suppliers and investors by facilitating the access of U.S. exporters and investors to the Moroccan market. Recent Moroccan import and investment policy reforms, and representations made by the Moroccan Minister of Agriculture to promote trade and investment in agriculture are creating new opportunities. AgLink is positioned to assist U.S. firms in capitalizing on these opportunities. AgLink locates Moroccan distributors and partners for American companies seeking to enter the Moroccan market and identifies American companies offering specific products and services based on requests from Moroccan companies.

Sponsor - U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Duration - July 1, 1997 - December 31, 2001.

Program Services - U.S. companies submit applications. When applications are approved AgLink provides assistance in:

  1. introducing U.S. companies to appropriate potential business partners in Morocco;
  2. briefing U.S. companies on the economic situation and business culture in Morocco;
  3. providing AgLink market sector benchmark studies and price surveys;
  4. providing English translations of selected government import regulations;
  5. scheduling appointments with Moroccan agribusinesses;
  6. arranging for interpreting and translation services; and
  7. providing other logistical support in Morocco. The AgLink Program will provide all American agribusinesses with commercial and logistical support without charge.

Special financial assistance is available for American companies, which fall within the Small Business Administration definition of small and mid-sized businesses. Qualified small and mid-sized American firms may seek financial assistance for travel expenses for trade development trips; interpreting services; and translating a limited number of marketing documents into French.

Criteria for Financial Assistance – Requests for financial assistance from small and mid-sized firms will be competitively reviewed and rated in terms of how well the company fits the following profile:
